The Architect
This tool was not built by a software company. It was built by an accountant who needed it.
LeaseAccounting.software was designed and built by a CA Finalist sitting the CFAP level at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). The tool was developed during active exam preparation — which means every calculation, every journal entry format, every disclosure note layout, and every modification type was built against the same technical references used in professional accounting examinations: Nasir Abbas FCA's IFRS 16 class notes and Zubair Saleem's AAFR notes.
Why This Exists
During CFAP preparation, there was no free tool that could handle IFRS 16 completely. Existing calculators handled basic lessee amortization but failed on modifications, sale and leaseback, lessor accounting, and disclosure generation. Spreadsheet models existed but were rigid, error-prone, and not built to handle the full standard.
The decision was made to build one — a single, self-contained tool that could solve any IFRS 16 problem a CA Final student, practising accountant, or auditor would encounter.
What Was Built
Over several months of development alongside exam preparation, the tool was expanded from a basic lessee calculator to a comprehensive platform covering:
- Full lessee accounting including all six modification types
- Complete lessor accounting for both financier and manufacturer/dealer lessors
- Sale and leaseback for all three IFRS 16.100 scenarios
- Financial statement disclosure generation from the underlying schedule
- Excel workpaper export with accounting number format
- 190+ currency support
- Advanced Day-1 parameters including IDC, incentives, and dismantling provisions
The Philosophy
Every feature was built to solve a real problem encountered either in exam preparation or in practice. Nothing was added for marketing reasons. The math was stress-tested against published model answers and verified by independent calculation before each feature was released.
The tool is free because the accounting profession should have access to accurate, compliant IFRS 16 tools without subscription fees.
